Erin and Jeffery
To begin with I have to say when I signed up for eHarmony I was skeptical. I thought this will never work. So you ask why I signed up. Well... after spending months praying about where I was in life and what I wanted out of life. I guess you could say God told me... this is what you have asked me for. Sound strange. It is.
Anyways, Erin and I were matched on August 7, 2009. Our first phone call was on August 13th, 2009. We spent two weeks on the phone talking and getting to know one another. The conversation was amazing. I felt like I had known her my whole life. I thought… is this really possible? I thought those commercials were so fake - Fast forward to August 30th, 2009. Erin and I decide to meet for the first time. What was I thinking? The entire time I was headed to Richmond, IN which is half way for us I thought, I am really doing this. This is crazy, but something told me I should. First off we did not know the town and we had to drive around to find a good place to even meet. Finally we gave up and met in Wal-Mart parking lot. We were there long enough to travel together to a nearby park I passed on the way to Wal-Mart.
What I found was Erin was too nervous to talk to me much at that point. So I decided to do the talking which I can be very good at. I can still remember what she was wearing, a white dress. After spending time in the park Erin began to open up a bit to me and we started a good conversation. Nothing too deep at this point but it was just interesting to find out how much we had in common. After some time we both agreed we were hungry and decided to go out to eat. The first place we ever ate at together was Chili’s. She had chicken tacos and I had a hamburger. Before you knew it, it was getting dark and it was time to go home.
Something I cannot explain to this day other than it has to be something God planned for us. I have always felt like I have had this connection with Erin like no one else I have ever met. If I am having a bad day, often Erin will call. This is one of the things about her that I fell in love with.
As the months went by Erin and I spent more and more time together. I think we both knew early on this was something truly special. Like something we had both been waiting for, for a very long time.
I spent the day after Thanksgiving with her and her parents as well as the remainder of the weekend. I even spent Christmas Day with her and her family, which I have never spent with anyone except my own family.
Fast forward once again to January 30th, 2010. This was the day I had chosen to propose to Erin. I had put a lot of thought and prayer into this. I thought this would be easy but strangely enough I found I became more nervous once she arrived than I had expected. I cooked her dinner that night. I had pasta and salad and of course a lit candle on the table. Later that night I took her to the Canal in downtown Indianapolis. This was also one of the places for one of our first dates back in September of 2009. She seemed very confused as to why I was going to all of this trouble with her. After sometime I was able to get her to sit with me on a bench along the canal. This is where I then began a conversation with her about my plans for us and proposed. She said YES!!
