Mike and Janea
I met Mike on eHarmony in March of 2004. My first husband had left me with 5 children to raise and I was sure I would never meet anyone willing to take on a family as large as we were. I had been married to my kid’s dad for 20 years when he left and felt completely paralyzed and overwhelmed at the thought of dating again. It took about 2 years before I even considered the possibility that I could remarry. I had all kinds of doubts about myself and my ability to successfully partner with anyone. What kind of man would even want a 40 something year old woman with 5 kids; 3 of them teenagers?
I liked the idea of having help in choosing my next partner. I was matched with Mike in March of 2004. I was intrigued at how closely his background paralleled my own. We were both from large German families, we enjoyed the same things and our child rearing philosophies were the same as well. We started emailing immediately. He came to visit me for the first time in July of 2004. We talked non-stop on that first date, closing down the steakhouse where we went for dinner. We didn't even touch our food!!! We have to laugh when the eHarmony commercials come on. That was soooo us! We couldn't stop talking! Over the course of the next 3 years, we talked 2 to 3 hours everyday, emailed and text messaged like love sick teenagers. My daughter Madelyn actually wrote a book about us titled, Janea Meets Mike where she writes about how we met. (Sorry, but she says in her book we met on 'eBay' instead of 'eHarmony', but she was only 10 years old at the time!)
The back cover of the book reads: Janea Meets Mike: Janea is looking for true love. So she decides to look on 'eBay' for the perfect one. That's when Janea meets Mike. A true love story about a couple that's a perfect pair of friends. But, does their relationship go to the next level? Read this book and you will find out!! Mike is an artist, so he illustrated the book and we had it printed for our wedding program. We were married on July 21, 2007 in a sunset ceremony in front of friends and family. We feel so fortunate to have found each other. I just had to write and say 'thank you' I never would have met the man my kids now call their second Daddy and I call my best friend without you Dr. Warren! If you were to meet Mike you would know what a great service you have done for me and my kids. He is truly the most big-hearted, open-handed, generous, giving man I have ever met. He is all that I had prayed for and more. He is the one I laugh and play with, tease and flirt with and want to grow old with. He is my soul mate, my missing half. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
