Nicki and Adam

It was about a year after I had graduated from college that I came to a realization. It was so much harder to met nice, dateable, men. In college they are everywhere, but once you graduate you have few options. Sure you can meet guys at a bar, but that wasn’t my style. You could meet someone at work. I even had two jobs…teaching 8 year olds and selling jewelry. In both jobs my co-workers were women and the clients were unavailable. Secretly, I joined eHarmony. Little did I know that a month or so before, my (future) husband signed up. He had a little push from his mom. Ok, a shove. She politely stated that if he didn’t sign up on his own, she would give him a membership for Christmas.
After signing up, we both had similar experiences. We talked with many nice people and even met a few for some nice dates. We patiently waited and continued checking out our new matches. I was matched with Adam. I instantly liked his profile due to his love of family and sports. I sent him the first communication. Before I knew it we were sending extremely long messages to each other. After about 10 of those messages he asked me if he could give me a call sometime. I thought he would never ask! When he called I was preparing for a short conversation. I was in the middle of cooking dinner and he was driving home from a family get-together, but that phone conversation lasted 4 ½ hours! I had to eventually turn off the stove and get take out later. We talked like we had known each other forever!
Since that conversation not a day has gone by that I didn’t talk to Adam on the phone or in person. A few days later we went on our first date…. shower curtain shopping. It’s an inside joke from our many open communications. The first date lasted about 7 hours. Pretty soon we were inseparable despite our 2 hour distance. Our friendship grew quickly into love and on February 16th 2009 he asked me to marry him. I couldn’t stand anymore 2 hour drives, so we planned a wedding for June 13th! It was the best decision I ever made! I have an amazing husband and best friend. I can completely be myself around him which I believe to be the best part about eHarmony. You are 100% yourself from the start. Normally in the beginning of a relationship you are on your best behavior, saying what you think sounds good. On eHarmony you get to be yourself from the start. I love my husband for EXACTLY who he is and I get that same love in return. It’s indescribable. Thank you eHarmony!
