eHarmony Success Stories

Nearly Gave Up

Melissa and James

Piedmont, SC

December 2004- My older sister was married and I was the last girl left at home with two younger brothers for Christmas.  I was folding clothes in the living room and your commercial came on.  I had tried in 2003 and didn't have success so I convinced myself it did not work.  But something told me that maybe I should try again.  Taking the clothes upstairs the eHarmony commercial came on my brothers radio and I knew I had to try it one more time.  So I logged on and got a great message-- Sorry we currently do not have any matches for you but don't give up new people are joining everyday check back soon.  Well, there it was, out of thousands of people no matches for me?! So I waited 3 days and decided I would try one last time and in my box were 10 new matches.

We were matched on 12-30-2004 and two days later I had to head back to NY where I was teaching with no computer of my own! I tried to message James Aaron but my dad's computer was on the blink the day before I had to leave.  So needles to say I had to call my brother back in NC to get into my account to answer his questions so I wouldn't lose my communication with him.  I told my brother that no mistakes could be made because I was a teacher and he had to do this right! He was a good sport and we kept in contact until I could get to the library to email him myself. We got to open communication quickly and our first phone call lasted almost 3 hours.

Valentine's Day he sent me a teddy bear card, jewelry box and earrings. We talked almost every night for hours never tiring of something to talk about.  We were amazed at how perfectly we were matched. March was his birthday and he asked if he could fly me down.  So we met in person March 10, 2005. I stayed barely 72 hours because I had to teach on Monday. It was almost instant our connection of really knowing each other. He had roses waiting in his truck, I met his family, and the next day we went to have pictures taken together and out to see Greenville, SC.

I moved down to SC June 10, 2005 and he proposed on top of a mountain in a stone chapel called Pretty Place on June 26, 2005.  We were married January 21, 2006. Our program included a special thank you to eHarmony for bringing us together. Since then my husband and I have had 3 other friends who have met their spouses on eHarmony as well. My husband tells everyone who is single and looking to try eHarmony! I told him he was the best $150 I have ever spent and he says I am the best $50 he ever spent.  We are happily married and so in love on such a deeper level that people don't understand our connection.  We just have to give our thanks to eHarmony and their matching process. We are hoping to start a family soon and are thinking of using Harmony as a middle name-Erin Harmony. I have truly found the love of my life.
