Long Distance

Tara and Chip

Humble, TX

Long ago, Chip had made the decision that he didn’t ever want to marry.  After several years and some serious prayer and consideration, he changed his mind about marriage and decided to register with eHarmony to start his search, hoping to find the person meant for him.  Tara had also registered with eHarmony because she hoped to meet someone with the same values, interests and beliefs for a meaningful relationship.

Chip was about to give up on eHarmony when he decided to widen his search from just Colorado, where he lived, to the whole United States.  Voila!  All of a sudden in January, 2007, he and Tara, who was living in Minneapolis at the time, were matched.

After lots of emails and text messages, they started talking on the phone.  In the first month alone, they spent over 70 hours staying up well past any rational bedtimes talking!  The phone bills were insane!  It is pretty safe to say that they were already finding hundreds of things they have in common and starting to fall in love before they ever even met in person.  There were several visits between Denver and Minneapolis and about 6 months after they were matched on eHarmony, Tara moved to Colorado to be with Chip.

Over the next several months, there were a lot of trials, especially with serious health issues Tara was having and some unexpected job issues Chip ended up having, but instead of driving them apart, the difficulties only proved to make them stronger and more sure of their love than ever.

They were unfortunately both out of work at the end of 2007 and decided to look for new jobs in both Denver, Chip’s home-town, and Houston, Tara’s home-town.  Both received offers in Houston and in January, 2008, they packed up their stuff and their many, many pets and moved to Texas.

On May 31, 2008 Chip proposed to Tara over dinner at their favorite restaurant, The Melting Pot.  She, of course, was thrilled and accepted.

Anybody that knows Chip or Tara well knows that very obviously, neither of them has ever been happier.  Their love, common background and interests, personality differences and complementary strengths and weaknesses have only proven to enhance both of their lives more richly than either one of them could have ever hoped or dreamed for.  They tell each other constantly that they don’t know how they survived before meeting!
